ASM International Highlights Materials Innovations at Luncheon Seminar



ALMERE, the Netherlands, December 15, 2008 - ASM International N.V. (NASDAQ:ASMI and Euronext Amsterdam: ASM) today announced that it will be hosting a technical luncheon seminar in San Francisco on Wednesday, December 17, 2008, the last day of the International Electron Devices Meeting (IEDM).  The seminar will address important materials innovations that provide power and speed advantages on chips in high volume manufacturing, including Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) of High-k gates, and Epitaxial Deposition of novel device structures.
            The event will be presented in two parts:
Part 1: 11:30 - 12:15 - Walk-in Poster Session and Lunch Buffet.  Topics include selective
            epitaxy of silicon based structures, atomic layer deposition of novel high-k dielectrics    
            and metal gates, and low-k interconnects.
Part 2: 12:15 - 13:00 - Presentations by Industry Leaders on Key Materials Innovations for
            High Volume Manufacturing:
  • Prof. Eugene Fitzgerald (MIT) on "Low Power Silicon Systems Enabled by Epitaxy"
  • Falk Graetsch (AMD) on "High-k Dielectric Deposition Tool Evaluation -Experiences and Challenges".
Following the presentations, there will be an opportunity for continued dialogue around the posters and presentation topics.
