Hartmann sole proprietor of factory in South-East Asia
May 31, 1999 12:00:00 CET
JJ-Hartmann, a 50-50 joint venture between Jebsen & Jessen (SEA) Pte Ltd, Singapore, and Brødrene Hartmann A/S, Denmark, has since its inception rapidly achieved market leadership in South-East Asia in the field of production and sales of moulded pulp as an industrial packaging material.
Hartmann has for some time considered entering the production and sales in Asia of mouldedpulp egg packaging - a segment in which Jebsen & Jessen has no strategic interest. After friendly discussions it has been agreed that Hartmann shall acquire Jebsen & Jessen's 50% shareholding for the sum of approx. DKK 16 million.
Hartmann will use JJ-Hartmann as the base for production of industrial packaging in moulded pulp, not only as today for South-East Asia, but for the whole Asia-Pacific region, and a new business area in the region will be production and sales of egg packaging.
Thereby Hartmann will secure entry into the egg packaging markets in Asia and a platform for later expansion in Australia and New Zealand, and within industrial packaging Hartmann will also establish own sales organisation in Japan.
This falls closely in line with the Hartmann global strategy which will continue with further acquisitions outside of Europe.
The JJ-Hartmann group consists of JJ-Hartmann (S) Pte Ltd, Singapore, JJ-Hartmann (M) SDN BHD, Malaysia, and JJ-Hartmann Logistic Services (M) SDN BHD, Malaysia, which companies will all change name under the new ownership.
Yours faithfully
