EDB 4tel AS, a subsidiary of EDB Business Partner ASA and an acknowledged software vendor specializing in solutions for the telecommunications industry, has announced its launch of a mediation system that handles traffic information from both traditional and IP networks.

“Integration between IP network elements and traditional network elements is today an important requirement for telcos worldwide. Previously IP has been one of several transport protocols, but we are seeing a trend where IP is the only transport carrier, and that all other services are ported to IP independently of the underlying access networks,” says Product Manager for Mediation 4tel, Trond Larsen.

The introduction of IP and IP based network elements is increasing rapidly. Being able to bridge the vast amount of traffic data generated in these networks into the Customer Care and Billing systems is essential for both telecom operators and service providers. The new IP-agent handles information from a multitude of data sources, and is thus ideally suited for telcos as well as Application Service Providers (ASPs).
