EDB 4tel, the telecom subsidiary of EDB Business Partner ASA, has been chosen to deliver its state-of-the-art decision support system, 4CAST Carrier, to the Carrier & Wholesale Business Unit of Belgacom Carrier & Wholesale. The EDB 4tel solution will enable the leading Belgian operator to analyze international traffic routing for rapid decision-making in the highly competitive international carrier market. 4CAST Carrier is expected to improve Belgacom Carrier's customer satisfaction, by enabling the operator to monitor the profitability of the international routes.

4CAST Carrier is based on aggregated Call Detail Records, providing the basis to perform traffic analysis. The traffic data is combined with customer-, vendor- and product- information, destinations, routes and tariffs from operational billing or CRM-systems in a data warehouse. The 4CAST Carrier data warehouse is a repository of integrated information, available for queries and analysis. Data is extracted from heterogeneous sources as it is generated. This makes it much easier and more efficient to run queries over data that originally came from different sources. 4CAST Carrier will also provide Belgacom with the means to analyze the quality of the international traffic in the networks. Quality, as well as price, can therefore be monitored and used as differentiating factors in the market place.
