Nordea has signed a contract with EDB Business Partner's wholly owned subsidiary EDB Fellesdata to purchase the international version of the Micos self-service system and related operating services for its Norwegian card activities. The agreement is on an annual basis with automatic renewal for up to ten years. Contract value for the first year is NOK 10.5 million, and NOK 5 million yearly for the following years.
Nordea's purchase of the new, international version of Micos, represents an extension of the existing contract. In addition to receiving transactions from self-service units (mini banks and ATMs) and providing administration for these units, the system also includes an international interface and customer billing, and is compliant with smartcards using the new international standard (EMV standard) chosen by international card companies. As part of the agreement Nordea has an option to purchase the system for overseas units. Whether or not this option is used will depend on decisions taken by the local units.
"This agreement confirms that Micos offers competitive functionality, and Nordea has chosen Micos as a strategic solution for its Norwegian operation's self-service platform. This contract will also pave the way for additional business with significant parts of the Nordea Group", comments Ole Trasti, Managing Director of EDB Fellesdata.
