(Oslo 02.07.2002) Verdibanken, which is a new commercial bank currently preparing to start operations, has signed a contract with EDB Business Partner's wholly owned subsidiary EDB Fellesdata to purchase software, computer operating services and consultancy services for its banking activities. The contract extends over five years, and is worth approximately NOK 45 million.

 

Verdibanken plans to launch a full-service banking operation in the 1. quarter of 2003. The bank's objective is to be a leading commercial bank for religious organisations and similar entities. The target customer group will also include retail and corporate customers looking for a fund manager that emphasises Christian ethics and social responsibility.

 

Verdibanken purchases IT systems and functionality for the management and operation of the bank, as well as self-sevice e-banking solutions for the bank's customers. Verdibanken is also making use of consultancy services from EDB for setting up the bank, training and the implementation of the EDB Fellesdata banking systems. Computer operating services will be supplied by EDB Teamco.
