As part of its project to establish a health network for the primary health care service, Helse Midt-Norge (the health service authority for mid-Norway) has signed a contract with EDB Teamco (a wholly owned subsidiary of EDB Business Partner) for a broadband system to be used by its primary health care locations. The agreement runs for three years and is an extension and addition of existing agreement, worth NOK 35 million in total for EDB Teamco.

 

EDB Teamco has collaborated with Helse Midt-Norge over a number of years on a broadband system to link the authority's hospitals through a shared network. The new contract will provide access to this existing network (Midt-Norsk Helsenett) from over 200 primary health care locations.

 

"The factors that Helse Midt-Norge took into account when choosing EDB Teamco as the total supplier for this contract included the flexibility of the system and the cost-effective total package offered that integrates broadband access with the secure communications services required by our primary health care locations", explains Pal Hildrum, Head of Midt-Norsk Helsenett.

 

The contract for the new system is supported in part from funds made available by the Ministry of Health and Social Security, and the contract attaches particular importance to the system's security and reliability. Midt-Norsk Helsenett has chosen a system that routes all traffic through a private network rather than using a broadband system that relies on the Internet as its basic communications service. 

EDB Teamco is the largest supplier of IT operating services in Norway.

 

Midt-Norsk Helsenett (MNH) was established in 1998 as a project run by KITH on behalf of the health service authority for mid-Norway.

 

 Following the establishment of new regional health business entities at the turn of the year, MNH became a department of the mid-Norway regional health entity. MNH includes all hospitals, doctors' surgeries and other health service locations in the counties of Møre og Romsdal, Sør Trøndelag and Nord Trøndelag.
