EDB to supply National Insurance Administration with new communication solution

(Oslo, 21 January 2004) The Norwegian National Insurance Administration intends to award EDB Business Partner a contract to supply and operate a new communication solution to tie together all the state agency's offices. Worth about NOK 80 million in all, this agreement will run for three years from 1 April 2004.

The agreement will be executed by EDB IT Operations. In line with Norway's public procurement regulations, the other bidders have a week to register objections to the decision. The contract is due to be signed at the end of January.

The communication solutions being delivered to the National Insurance Administration will embrace all its offices, which total more than 500 nationwide. EDB's brief is to tie the agency together and install a flexible and future oriented system based on broadband and ultra-modern technology for an organisation undergoing great change. This will contribute to extensive electronic collaboration and ensure efficient use of the agency's information and communication technology centrally and locally.

"We are satisfied with EDB's ability to deliver, quality and price, and that is the reason for our decision" says Lasse A. Andresen, deputy CIO at the National Insurance Administration. "Combined with the flexibility in our collaboration, this means we have opted to extend our contractual relationship with the company."

John-Arne Haugerud, executive vice president for EDB IT Operations, comments: "The contract with the National Insurance Administration demonstrates that we're very competitive in creating and operating complex communication solutions. "This agreement is the result of an increased focus by our group on the public sector."
