The contract is for a multi-phase delivery of Sterling Mediation, that will be integrated over a 2-3 year period, starting late 2004. This solution will help the operator to protect its income stream and will generate information on how the operator can make best use of its networks. Implementation will take place in phases, starting with IP services followed by scaling up to cover the operator's fixed-line network.

 

Many telecommunications operators use several different systems to collect information from their telecommunications networks depending on whether the network is fixed line, mobile or IP-based. Operating and maintaining mediation systems is expensive, and by consolidating the systems to a single platform an operator can achieve significant savings in operational costs. Sterling Mediation is a convergent and highly-scalable mediation platform, and will make it possible for the German operator to consolidate collection and processing of traffic data onto a single platform.

 

This contract serves to underline the strength of EDB's mediation solutions, and is one of the larger contracts signed in this area in 2004. Sterling Mediation's ability to deal with different networks in a convergent solution played a significant role in the operator's choice of EDB as its supplier. The solution will be implemented in close collaboration with Steria, and Steria will be a subcontractor to EDB responsible for systems integration.
