(Oslo, 1 February, 2005) The Swedish company Coor Service Management (formerly Skanska FM) has entered into an agreement to transfer responsibility for the operation of its IT solutions to EDB. The agreement represents expected business volume for EDB of around NOK 100 million over a five-year period. At the same time, EDB has entered into an agreement for Coor Service Management to take over responsibility for the major part of EDB's internal services. This agreement is expected to create cost savings for EDB of around NOK 60 million over a five-year period. The contract to operate CSM's IT solutions involves EDB taking on responsibility for operating all CSM's servers and clients for the company's app. 1,200 employees at 60 locations around Sweden. EDB will also be responsible for user support and communications solutions.
"EDB is an IT supplier with a focus on growth. We are growing strongly, and in EDB we have found a partner that can match its delivery of IT services to our growth. The contract will reduce our IT costs. We are convinced that EDB's experience in cost-effective operation of customers' IT operations will give us a stable and forward-looking IT environment for our business-critical IT needs", comments René Jacobsen, Managing Director of Coor Service Management Norway.
"This agreement is very pleasing, and further strengthens our position in Sweden. A relationship with a company that is growing and will have continuously changing requirements helps us develop EDB's strengths as a supplier of stable and secure solutions", explains Endre Rangnes, CEO of EDB.
EDB and Coor Service Management have also signed a service agreement for CSM to supply a number of internal services for EDB from 1 March 2005. As part of this agreement, CSM will take over responsibility for 34 employees in EDB's internal services department. The areas for which CSM will be responsible include operating the reception area, telephone switchboard services, catering, promises management, office supplies and internal mail. The contract runs for a period of five years term with a total estimated value of NOK 300 million. EDB expects to make cost savings of around NOK 60 million over the five-year period.
"This is about taking the same medicine we recommend to others. In the same way as our customers hand over responsibility for their IT services to us because IT is not part of their core business, we are now turning to a supplier whose core business is internal services. The contract will also give the employees moving to Coor Service Management a broader professional platform with greater opportunities for development in their specialist areas", adds Endre Rangnes.
