| Booksellers Association renews its contract with EDB |
|
(Oslo, 16 March 2005) The Norwegian Booksellers Association has signed an expanded framework agreement with EDB Business Partner for the operation of its nation-wide network for booksellers. The new agreement runs for three years, with expected business volume of around NOK 20 million. "Through our 5-year collaboration on the booksellers' network, EDB has proved to be an attractive partner for booksellers. The contract with EDB gives every bookshop access to secure and up-to-date technology. Our daily operations place ever greater demands on security and availability, and our members' employees need solutions that cater for greater mobility, flexibility and capacity in the ICT area. EDB's operating solutions meet these needs while also giving our members access to much lower prices for these services", comments Randi Øgrey, Director of the Norwegian Booksellers Association.
The agreement provides a reliable and secure nation-wide computer network for the member firms of the Norwegian Booksellers Association, and includes providing members with new access technology such as ADSL and SHDSL. A secure and well-established infrastructure for the branch network is central to the overall arrangement. The contract also includes e-mail services with related security features such as anti-virus and anti-spam software. In addition, the agreement makes it easy for member firms to set up home offices for their employees with secure access to company servers on the network using VPN.
EDB's customer service centre provides 24/7 monitoring and support for the network to give the booksellers optimal accessibility, security and reliability. The customer centre is responsible for the quality and service level of daily operations and follow-up. This gives the Association's member firms the support and backup of extensive resources at EDB to ensure reliable and secure operations.
