The agreement represents business volume of around NOK 35 million, and runs for three years.

 

"The Directorate's objective is to improve the cost effectiveness and reliability of its IT operations. This collaboration with EDB will give the Directorate greater flexibility in using technology to improve the user focus of its services and in the fight against financial crime", comments Reidar Nybø, Head of IT at the Directorate of Taxes.

 

The Directorate of Taxes currently operates the Tax Administration's IBM mainframe facility. The Directorate has now agreed to outsource this responsibility to EDB. From now until the end of the year, EDB will carry out a project to migrate the Directorate onto a new operating platform. EDB will implement new infrastructure and upgrade the operations environment and software portfolio. The Directorate will run as part of EDB's standard mainframe operations environment from 1 January 2006.

 

EDB is currently focusing heavily on the public sector market, and this new contract is a further result of this commitment.

The contract with the Directorate of Taxes is further confirmation of our success in this area. The contract we have recently signed with the Ministry of Justice to deliver information from public registers through EDB Infobank and the IT operations contract we signed with Trondheim municipality are further examples of this", comments Ole Urdahl, EVP - IT Operations at EDB.
