(Oslo, 8 May 2006) DnB NOR-owned Netaxept will buy Paynet, the e-commerce company, from EDB Business Partner. "DnB NOR aims to be an international supplier of e-commerce services and this acquisition will strengthen our expertise and our distribution network," says Hans Petter Evensen, managing director of Netaxept. Netaxept and Paynet cooperate with the largest companies in the Nordic region, providing e-commerce banking and card solutions and will become one of the leading suppliers of payment services for webshops.
"Netaxept and Paynet already share a number of customers and the acquisition will result in improved services for customers and facilitate webshop services," says Hans Petter Evensen.
"The global electronic payment services market is very exposed to competition. The merger of Netaxept and Paynet will enable us to offer our customers a wider variety of improved payment services and will increase our competitiveness," says Britt Løkkheim, managing director of Paynet.
EDB is selling Paynet to prevent competition with its own customers. DnB NOR will continue to use EDB's solutions for banking applications and customer channels, and the two companies will continue to cooperate on the development and use of banking solutions.
