EDB - The Norwegian Public Roads Administration selects network operating services from EDB

(Oslo, 11 December 2006) The Norwegian Public Roads Administration, represented by the Directorate of Public Roads, has entered into an agreement with EDB for network operating services for the entire Public Roads Administration. The agreement runs for four years, following a set-up period of nine months, and represents total contract value of around NOK 50 million.

This agreement makes EDB responsible for operating the Public Roads Administration's data network for all the Admistration's offices around Norway. The Public Roads Administration operates an IT centre in Oslo and has 220 other locations. EDB's services will play a crucial role in communications between all these offices. In addition to the agreement on operational services, the contract offers opportunities to add additional services such as Internet, ADSL and technical lines.

"Flexibility in the system"
"EDB was the best bidder in all respects, and we are particularly pleased with the flexibility of the proposed system in terms of monitoring and follow-up procedures", explains Helge Stø, who was responsible for managing the Administration's tendering process.

"We are delighted by the confidence in EDB that the Public Roads Administration has demonstrated by entering into this collaboration. It is an exciting assignment for EDB, and demonstrates our position as one of the leading Nordic players for the transfer of business critical information over high-speed networks", comments Bjørn Carlsen, director, public sector, EDB.
