| EDB enters into outsourcing agreement worth NOK 300 million |
|
(Oslo, 30 January 2007) EDB Business Partner has agreed a letter of intent with Telenor Sverige AB for the supply of IT operating services with a total contract value of around NOK 300 million. The contract runs for five years, and provides for EDB to take over the responsibility for Telenor Mobile's IT operations department at Karlskrona in Sweden.
"This agreement strengthens EDB's position as one of the leading IT suppliers in the Nordic market. We continue to build our competitive strength, and we are well positioned to compete for new contracts in the future. Telenor is a very important customer for EDB, and we very much welcome the confidence Telenor demonstrates in EDB by choosing to expand our already extensive collaboration", comments Endre Rangnes at EDB.
Taking on responsibility for Telenor Mobile Sweden's IT operations
This agreement gives EDB responsibility for Telenor Mobile's IT production in Sweden, including applications operations and monitoring. The IT side of Telenor Mobile's activities in Sweden is run from Karlskrona. The agreement provides for EDB to take over between 25 and 30 Telenor employees involved in this activity. EDB plans to establish a dedicated centre of expertise in Karlskrona for the Nordic telecommunications industry that will be responsible for delivery to Telenor Mobile. In total, the agreement comprises operating services for more than 400 servers and over 100 applications, as well as data storage and back-up solutions.
"Telenor has realised major benefits over recent years from implementing its Nordic IT strategy. EDB has played an important role in this work in a range of areas. I believe that Telenor's decision to expand our current collaboration to also include its Swedish mobile telephone business is a vote of confidence in EDB and serves to confirm the quality of the services we provide", comments EVP Jan Erik Larsen at EDB.
The agreement with Telenor Sverige AB is one of the largest outsourcing contracts seen in the Swedish market over the last 12 months. EDB has won this business against tough competition from other suppliers, with Telenor inviting competitive tendering from seven international and Nordic IT suppliers. EDB was selected after a final selection round against an international supplier.
Telenor Sverige AB and EDB have so far signed a letter of intent. The parties intend to enter into the final agreement during the first quarter of 2007.
EDB's current assignments for Telenor

EDB's responsibilities include document storage, software distribution, desktop solutions, mail servers, eRoom, help desk support in Norway and security solutions. This agreement runs to 2011.
