BW Gas signs agreement with EDB

(Oslo, 24 September 2007) The shipowning company BW Gas has entered into an agreement for EDB to provide operating services for the company's IT systems. The agreement represents total contract value over its life of around NOK 27.5 million.

"BW Gas is a new and important customer for EDB's focus on the shipping and transport sector. I am very pleased by the confidence the company has shown in EDB by choosing us as its business partner for IT operations", comments Anette Willumsen, Vice President - Retail and Industry at EDB.

"We chose EDB because the company delivered the best and most competitive offer", explains Rebekka G. Herlofsen, Director - Business Development at BW Gas".

All IT services centralised at EDB
The agreement provides for BW Gas to centralise all its IT operations-related services to an operating environment at EDB. BW Gas currently uses an IT operating services model that allocates service provision between two other suppliers and BW Gas itself. EDB's responsibilities will include operating core ERP applications and Domino Notes, as well as a number of business-critical industry-specific solutions.

BW Gas invited offers from a range of IT suppliers at the start of 2007. The company wanted to bring together its IT operations in order to improve operational efficiency, flexibility and quality while reducing costs. It placed particular importance on establishing a long-term partnership with a supplier offering value-added services that would make an active contribution to IT development at BW Gas in order to support the company's business development and commercial objectives. At the same time, BW Gas was looking for a supplier with the flexibility and capacity needed to meet the high quality standards and rapid pace of change that characterise the shipping industry.

"We identified EDB as a strong and professional operating services partner that offers an IT operations concept that meets our requirements and is easy to deal with. I have every confidence in our future collaboration", explains Jan Waage, Assistant Director, Manager IS/IT at BW Gas.

Through its agreement with EDB, BW Gas joins the well-proven, secure and reliable IT operations concept delivered by EDB. The company also gains access to IT resources with in-depth experience of the shipping and transport sector. "We look forward to starting our assignment for BW Gas and will do everything possible to help ensure that the company's IT systems make an important contribution to the company's competitive position in its market", adds Anette Willumsen.
