Røros Region chooses EDB's Digital Public Sector

(Oslo, 5 November 2007) The Røros Region has entered into an agreement with EDB for the supply of accounting solutions for the three municipalities Os, Røros and Holtålen. The solutions are part of the EDB Digital Public Sector portfolio, which is EDB's solutions strategy for the public sector.

EDB is placing particular emphasis on the public sector, and earlier this year it launched a new solutions portfolio for the public sector known as EDB Digital Public Sector. The solutions meet the needs of both large and small customers. Eight municipalities have now placed contracts for deliveries from the EDB Digital Public Sector portfolio, and the public sector market is showing great interest in these new solutions.

"This gives us a state of the art and forward-looking accounting solution that adapts international practice to meet national and local requirements. We also considered it important to find a strong and reliable supplier to ensure good follow-up for our systems for many years to come", comments Anne Karin Holm, Technical Manager - Accounting and Finance, Røros municipality.

"We are very pleased that the Røros Region has chosen EDB to supply its new accounting solution. This solution will ensure simpler, better and more cost-effective management of the region's activities, and I look forward to starting work on this new delivery", comments Jan Ivar Borgersen, EVP - Public Sector, EDB.

New solution opens up new opportunities
The Municipalities of the Røros Region will now have access to a platform-independent role-based solution delivered on a web-based interface. The solution is built on the use of open standards and shared software. SAP's service-oriented architecture and applications form the locomotive for this solution. The objective is to create interactive dialogue both within the municipalities and with the citizens that use their services. The solutions aim to pave the way for the authorities to use fewer applications and reduce their operating and investment costs.

'EDB Digital Public Sector' is a solutions platform developed to ensure that public sector bodies can keep abreast of changing needs in the future.
