| SAS chooses EDB for SAP upgrading in Scandinavia |
|
(Oslo, 9 February 2009) The airline SAS has chosen EDB's subsidiary Spring Consulting to upgrade its SAP platform in Norway, Sweden and Denmark. The parties have provisionally entered into an agreement for Application Management and the further development of the platform for at least three years. The agreement is between SAS Human Resources Services (SAS HRS) and Spring Consulting. SAS HRS currently provides services to around 25,000 SAS employees and 40 customer companies in the aviation industry. SAP has been chosen as the strategic platform for both payroll administration and HR services, and supports services such as personnel and payroll administration, competence development and portal-based self-service solutions for employees and HR.
"Strong delivery reliability, an attractive price with an adaptable pricing model, a customer base with critical mass and a highly developed level of expertise available both locally and across Scandinavia were the key factors in our choice of Spring Consulting", explains Göran Wendelius, Development Manager at SAS HRS. Göran Wendelius had overall responsibility for selecting the supplier, and is now the project leader for SAS HRS.
"We have enjoyed good collaboration with Spring Consulting in Denmark over the last two years. They have demonstrated strong expertise in SAP HCM and SAP KMD payroll solutions, and have also been good to work with. We now look forward to expanding this collaboration across the whole of Scandinavia", says Göran Wendelius.
About the delivery
Deliveries to SAS HRS will be handled by Spring Consulting in Sweden, Denmark and Norway as well as by Spring Consulting's near sourcing center in Bulgaria. "SAS HRS is a strategically important customer for us, and this contract demonstrates that we have the expertise and depth needed to manage such a critical area as payroll administration and HR for a major group like SAS", comments Lars Torp, Managing Director of Spring Consulting, who adds; "At the same time we are a flexible and pragmatic business partner and we react quickly to the new challenges that our customers face rather than being bureaucratic and inefficient".
The delivery arrangements at Spring Consulting are dimensioned to provide support for the IT systems that HRS uses to manage the 25,000 employees at SAS. Spring Consulting already operates internationally for other major Scandinavian businesses with foreign operations, and through its ownership interest in Magnisol, which employs 800 SAP consultants, Spring Consulting can call on expertise in country-specific aspects of payroll and personnel administration around the world.
The contract involves upgrading the SAP system used by SAS HRS from SAP R/3 4.6C to SAP ECC 6.0 as well subsequent Application Maintenance and further development of the platform. This will include KMD NetSalary in Denmark, SAP's payroll solution in Norway and a third-party payroll solution in Sweden. The agreement initially runs until 2012.
