The Board of Directors of GC Rieber Shipping ASA has appointed Mrs. Irene Waage Basili (43) as the company's new CEO. According to plan, she will enter her new position as of medio March 2011.
Mrs. Basili is educated in Business Administration from Boston University, in addition to management education from IMD, Lausanne and from AFF at the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration (NHH).
She holds approximately 20 years of experience within shipping- and oil service business, both in commercial, strategic and operational positions.
Mrs. Basili has among other experience from Western Bulk Carriers and Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics. In the latter she was employed for 10 years, of which the last three as the company's Commercial Director.
In 2007 was headhunted for the position as CEO in GC Rieber Shipping's subsidiary, Arrow Seismic ASA, which later on was acquired by Petroleum Geo-Services (PGS).
Since the acquisition of Arrow Seismic ASA, Mrs. Basili has been employed in PGS as Vice President Marine, with responsibility for various projects related to the company's fleet and marine strategy. She is also a board member in Odfjell SE and North Sea Drilling Group.

Mrs. Basili succeeds former CEO of GC Rieber Shipping ASA, Mr. Sven Rong, who passed away in August this year. Acting CEO Mr. Hans Petter Klohs, will from medio March return to his permanent position as CFO of the same company.
