Hamburg, 5 December 2003. The wine trading group Hawesko Holding AG (HAWG.DE, HAW GR, DE0006042708) announced today that its subsidiary Wein-Wolf has received the exclusive distribution rights for the wines of Baron Philippe de Rothschild SA, Pauillac (Médoc) in Germany. The cooperation with this highly-esteemed French wine producer will begin on 1 April 2004. The wines to be cared for under this agreement - among others Château Mouton Rothschild, Château Clerc Milon, Mouton Cadet Rothschild, Opus One (California) und Almaviva (Chile) - make up a yearly volume of about 2.5 million bottles or more than € 15 million in sales.

 

Hawesko chief executive Alexander Margaritoff commented: "We are very excited about this addition to our present range of fine wines not only because it documents the confidence and trust of wine producers in our company and its distribution structure, but also because it should give us a big boost in sales over the next few years."

 

Hawesko Holding AG is a leading seller of premium wines and champagnes. Through its three distribution channels - mail order/e-commerce (particularly Hanseatisches Wein- und Sekt-Kontor), specialist wine retail (Jacques' Wein-Depot) and wholesale (Wein Wolf and CWD Champagner- und Wein-Distributionsgesellschaft) - the Group achieved sales of € 267 million in fiscal year 2002 and employed 550 staff members.
