Mykora employs over 60 staff and last year's net sales totalled about 7 million euros.
Kemira founded Mykora in 1988 at Kiukainen in Finland. The company grows and markets a good million kilos of fresh domestic mushrooms per year. In addition, Mykora co-operates with contract growers who produce champignon, shitake and oyster mushrooms for Mykora to market to retail chains. Mykora also produces and markets mushroom cultivation substrates.
The products are sold to domestic consumers using the Champ trademark. The bulk of the production is sold in Finland, but the company also has some exports, particularly to Sweden, the Benelux-countries, Germany and Russia.
Honkatarhat Oy is a greenhouse cultivation company based at Honkajoki, owned by Timo Rapila and his family. The company specialises in the production of potted herbs and vegetables.
According to the managing director, Timo Rapila, Mykora products fit the company product range particularly well. In the future, the company can better serve its customers with an even broader range of products.
Kemira Agro will focus on developing and marketing of total solutions for crop cultivation and animal nutrition as stated in Agro's strategy.
