10.04.2002 12:00 (GMT + 2) Nordea investment fund - best in Europe
Nordea has just been awarded a recently instituted prize as the best equity-based investment fund in the European market. The award was presented to Nordea 1, SICAV, which is based in Luxembourg and consists of 30 sub-funds. These sub-funds are also used for Nordea's international fund distribution.
This is the first award to be presented on a pan-European scale. It has been instituted by Lipper, a subsidiary of Reuters specialising in investment funds analysis, together with Fund-Market, an independent investment adviser.
To be considered for the award the investment fund must have operated for at least 36 months. In addition, it must be distributed in at least three of the five largest European markets for investment funds: Germany, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, France and Italy.
Nordea 1, SICAV secured the award by obtaining the highest information ratio. This ratio is an expression of the risk-adjusted additional yield relative to the relevant index. The judges motivate their choice emphasising that three of Nordea 1 SICAV's 15 equity-based funds are among the three best in their respective equity classes.
The funds of Nordea 1, SICAV are managed according to the Thematic Investment Process (TIP), which is based in Copenhagen, as well as in conformity with a value investment process managed from Luxembourg. Nordea 1, SICAV is thus based on the same investment principles as those offered to Nordea's institutional and personal customers in the Nordic region.
In addition to the award as the best equity-based investment fund, Nordea's North American Value Fund won in the category of North American equities.
Christian Clausen, Head of Asset Management & Life in Nordea, is pleased with the recognition.
"Because of its European focus this award is among the most prestigious we have received so far. It gives Nordea credit for the performance accomplished on the back of the investment philosophies we apply. At the same time it underpins the distinctions we have gained in several of our Nordic home markets", he says.
Nordea has recently been awarded prizes for its investment funds in the United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Sweden and Denmark.
