Positive clarification from the Directorate for Cultural Heritage re. Engebų rutile project

Archelogical registrations were executed in 2008 as a part of Nordic Mining's Environmental Impact Assessment for the Engebų rutile project. Further registrations have been established during fall 2009. In total, five separate sites have been classified as automatically protected in accordance with the Cultural Heritage legislation.

The Directorate for Cultural Heritage has resolved that the area plan for the Engebų project can be approved as regards cultural heritage aspects, subject to archeological investigations prior to start-up of the industrial project activity. Scope and demarcation of sites for investigation will be clarified when the area plan is approved.
