North Energy ASA - PL 591 Zumba well spudded

Exploration drilling has begun today on the Zumba prospect in production licence 591 in the Norwegian Sea.

The prospect is located on the Haltenbanken in the Norwegian Sea, approximately 14 km southeast of the Heidrun field. The well 6507/11-11 is being drilled by the Leiv Eiriksson rig to a total depth of 3000 metres. The total drilling operation is estimated to be completed in 60 days. The objective of the well is to detect hydrocarbons in the upper Jurassic sandstones.

Partners in the licence are Tullow Oil Norge AS (operator with 60 per cent), Lime Petroleum Norway AS (25 per cent) and North Energy ASA (15 per cent).
