The Swedish Maritime Administration SMA has drafted TransAtlantic icebreaker/AHTS- vessel Tor Viking for icebreaking assignment in the Baltic Sea. The icebreaker/AHTS vessel Balder Viking was called in for icebreaking in December 2010.

During the summer and the autumn, Tor Viking was in service in Alaska and the homeward voyage went via the Northeast Passage along the coast of Siberia, during which she set a record for the vessel to sail the Northeast Passage at the latest point (...)

Ola Helgesson is to leave his position as CFO of TransAtlantic at his own request.
On leaving TransAtlantic, Ola Helgesson will assume the position of CFO at Stena Line in Gothenburg.

The process to find a new CFO has commenced immediately and is expected to be completed before Ola Helgesson leaves his position in April 2011.

TransAtlantic is awarded a long-term contract by ENI Norge

TransAtlantic has been awarded a four year contract by ENI Norway for the ice strengthened AHTS vessel Njord Viking, which is currently under construction at the Astilleros Zamakona shipyard in Spain. The Anchor Handling Tug Supply Vessel (AHTS) will support exploration and development operations in the Barents Sea including the Goliat field. Commencement of the charter is scheduled for May 2011. The total contract value for the four year contract is about NOK 430 M.

TransAtlantic has divested the RoRo vessel Oak, 12,000 DWT, to foreign buyers. The transaction will result in a capital loss of approximately SEK 5 M, but will have a positive impact of approximately SEK 13 M on the consolidated cash balance. The vessel has been idle since 2009.

TransAtlantic acquires ownership companies in the three RoRo-vessels Ortviken, �strand and Obbola. The RoRo-vessels are previously time chartered to SCA Transforest to their traffic systems of forest products, which are in constant routes between the Baltic Sea and Northern Europe. The AHTS vessel Loke Viking (19,040 BHP - built 2010) has been awarded a contract by Statoil for operations in the Barents Sea. TransAtlantic took delivery of the AHTS vessel Loke Viking at the end of last week from the Astilleros Zamakona shipyard, in Bilbao, Spain. The naming ceremony took place on May 20. The Godmother was Eva Skaarberg, spouse of Rolf Skaarberg, President of Viking Supply Ship AS, Norway.

Loke Viking has been contracted by the UK based oil company Cairn Energy to assist in oil drilling west of Greenland. The assignment also includes the two AHTS vessels, Balder Viking and Vidar Viking.

On Thursday, April 23, 2009, Rederi AB Transatlantic presented the year's first interim report. The first quarter ended with a loss after taxes of SEK 44 M (profit: 81) for the continuing operations. For the Group a loss after tax of SEK 50 M (74) was reported. The loss is essentially entirely due to a decline in business activity among our customers. Since there is a tangible risk that the economy will remain poor during the remainder of 2009 and parts of 2010, Transatlantic must adjust its expenses to the lower level of income.

Transatlantic has signed a long-term contract with the Italian oil company ENI concerning one of its offshore vessels, Odin Viking. The assignment will extend until the end of 2007, with the possibility of further extension, and comprises the transfer of oil rigs from the Gulf of Mexico to Brazil.

The President and CEO of Transatlantic, H�kan Larsson, who will celebrate his 60th birthday in 2007, will step down from his position in 2007 at his own request. As H�kan Larsson's successor, the Board of Directors has appointed Carl-Johan Hagman, who is currently the President of EUKOR Car Carriers Inc in Korea. Carl-Johan Hagman, 41, will assume his position as the new President of Transatlantic in September 2007.

On April 19, Rederi AB Transatlantic received delivery of the third NETSS vessel, TransTimber, which was built on behalf of StoraEnso at the Aker Yards in Rauma, Finland. The vessel, which is 15,000 dwt, is specifically built for StoraEnso's European distribution system and will, together with its sister ships TransPaper and TransPulp, serve the Kemi -Oulu - G�teborg - Lubeck and Kemi route with three ports of call per week.

Through its 50/50 owned company Trans Viking, Rederi AB Transatlantic has signed a shipbuilding agreement with the Spanish shipyard Astilleros Zamakona for two AHTS vessels (19,000 BHP) with an option for a further two vessels. The first vessel will be delivered in the third quarter of 2009, and the second, eight months later.

Rederi AB Transatlantic has signed an agreement with foreign buyers for the sale of four older forest products transport vessels that are all operated by the Transatlantic Division. The vessels Acacia (9,400 dwt) and Joh. Gorthon (8,350 dwt) have been sold and delivered. The agreement for the sale of the vessels Ingrid Gorthon and Alida Gorthon has also been signed, with delivery scheduled for the autumn of 2006. Three of the vessels, Joh. Gorthon, Ingrid Gorthon and Alida Gorthon will be chartered back for a period of 2-4 years while awaiting the delivery of new tonnage, while the Acacia was sold without a rechartering agreement.

Rederi AB Transatlantic, through its associated company, Trans Viking, has acquired a further offshore vessel of the AHTS type. The vessel, which has been named Odin Viking, will primarily serve the North Sea oil industry, where Trans Viking's other offshore vessels also operate. Transatlantic has signed an agreement covering the sale of the 14,900-dwt bulk vessel Toft�n and the 14,240-dwt forest products carrier Margit Gorthon to foreign buyers. The vessels will be chartered back for two and four years, respectively, while awaiting the order and delivery of new tonnage. The transactions will have no significant impact on earnings, but will strengthen liquidity by SEK 70 M.

Transatlantic and Stora Enso have signed a five-year contract for increased cooperation on seaborne transports to and from the Gulf of Bothnia. A year ago, the parties signed a 15-year contract, by which Stora Enso time-charters three newly built container/RoRo vessels from Transatlantic for the transport of forest products from the ports of Kemi and Oulu in the Gulf of Bothnia to Gothenburg and L�beck. The vessels are currently being constructed in Rauma, Finland and will be delivered during the second half of 2006.

As was reported earlier, Transatlantic has decided to lengthen the three Finn vessels to meet the increased capacity demands, primarily from the forest industry, on the North American shipping routes.
In connection with this, the M/S Finnpine and M/S Finnwood and the M/S Sand�n, which was rebuilt in 2005, have been sold to external vessel owners. Concurrently, Transatlantic has reached an agreement with the new vessel owners to lease the vessels for a 10-year period through an operational lease arrangement. The transaction does not affect earnings; nor will the leasing costs affect Transatlantic's earnings during the lease period.

Rederi AB Transatlantic has signed a contract with the German shipyard Blohm & Voss Repair GmbH in Hamburg for the lengthening of the three forest-products vessels, m/v Finnwood, m/v Finnpine and m/v Finnfighter.

Consequently, load capacity will increase by approximately 20% and the vessels will have a dead weight of about 18,500 dwt after lengthening.
