SEB is starting SEB Trading Station - a new Internet service for medium-sized companies. It is a market place that will provide its users with access to decision-making support in the form of financial reports and extensive information which will facilitate currency trading.
During the last year currency trades worth around SEK 1.8 billion were carried out at a rate of approximately 2,000 trades per month. This means that currency trading via the Internet resulted in a turnover of roughly SEK 21 billion last year.
SEB Trading Station gives information on interest and prices in real-time and also enables users to link to euro reports and, for example, to such information as that which is provided by Reuters.
`SEB Trading Station allows clients to feel close to the market. This offensive means that we continue to be at the forefront as regards the Internet. It also falls in line with our efforts to be accessible, efficient and open towards our clients,` says Annika Bolin, Head of SEB Trading.
Today there are around 130 clients, or some 200 users, that carry out currency trading via the Internet. SEB estimates that this figure will increase to nearly 300 clients, or approximately 500 users, by the new year. This figure could be increased further by the launching of SEB Trading in other Nordic countries.
`We estimate that there are nearly 500 potential clients in Sweden alone,` says Karin Ölund, who is working with the project at SEB Trading in Gothenburg.
