Tekla sells its Xcable business to a group of user companies
Tekla Corporation renounces its software product Xcable, which is developed for managing fixed line telephone networks. According to the letter of intent signed today, the Xcable business will be sold to a group of users consisting of Finnish telecommunications companies.
The reason for renunciation is strategic. Xcable business is not among the core areas of the company. Tekla focuses on three business areas, which are Building & Construction, Energy Distribution and Public Infra. The target of these areas is to grow internationally faster than the markets.
The group of buyers consists of the following Finnish telephone companies: Iisalmen Puhelin Oy, Joensuun Puhelin Oy, Kajaanin Puhelinosuuskunta, Kesnet Oy, Kuopion Puhelin Oyj, Lohjan Puhelin Oy, Lännen Puhelin Oy, Mikkelin Puhelin Oyj, Pietarsaaren Seudun Puhelin Oy, Pohjanmaan Puhelinosuuskunta, Riihimäen Puhelin Oy, Salon Seudun Puhelin Oy, Satakunnan Puhelin Oy, Savonlinnan Puhelinyhdistys and Vakka-Suomen Puhelin Oy.
The net effect of the deal on the net sales of Tekla is less than 0.8 million euros.
The buying group intends to sell and develop the software system that was renewed last year.
Tekla and the buying group have agreed on support and Tekla technology licensing in order to guarantee efficient product development and to best serve the needs of the users.
