Transmode achieves unmatched port density
Transmode, a leading provider of Optical Networking Solutions, has further developed its TG-Series, a passive optical WDM platform, to achieve unmatched port density.
Service providers are facing increased need for network capacity, in particular in the Metro and Access area. The requirement originates in the need for higher capacity business and residential services. "Second mile" fiber is therefore required closer to the end customer, with deployments to street cabinets and manhole applications where space is scarce.
The Transmode TG-Series is designed to meet the requirements of next generation networks. It is compact, temperature-hardened, flexible, scalable and easily adaptable to the requirements of the second mile network. It is intended for network upgrades, such as Ethernet overlay for PDH or SDH networks, as well as for Greenfield installations, including high security business interconnect and FTTC (Fiber to the curb) installations for VDSL networks, amongst others. It may also serve as a first step into WDM networking, providing an easily upgradeable route to an active solution, utilizing Transmode's complementary TM-Series or TS-Series compact access products.
The TG-Series has now been advanced with plug-in modules of unmatched port density. Each module provides 24 LC connector ports and can for example be configured as an eight channel Mux/Demux with extension and monitor ports. Three units can be fitted in a 1RU (Rack Unit) rack mount panel.
