Bureau Veritas is awarded the GEEIS label for its commitment to gender equality in the workplace

Neuilly-sur-Seine, France, October 18, 2018 - Today, the Arborus fund, the leading support fund for gender equality in the workplace in Europe and worldwide, will award Bureau Veritas the Gender Equality European and International Standard (GEEIS) label, on the occasion of the latest edition of a yearly international event dedicated to "Equality Best practices", organized in Paris by Arborus.

Following an audit carried out by an independent third party, the GEEIS label will be awarded to major operating subsidiaries of Bureau Veritas in France, Spain, Italy and Poland. These subsidiaries employ 7,453 people, 33.2% of them women.

The GEEIS label is a real management support tool and contributes to promoting gender equality in the workplace. It certifies the level of resources mobilized by the company to achieve equality at work, as well as the successful deployment of the related human resource policy. It also aims at ensuring a good harmony of practices between the parent company and its certified subsidiaries.

For Bureau Veritas, this certification process is part of a global inclusion policy focusing on professional equality. The Group's global "GENDER + ONE" program promotes the recognition of gender diversity in teams as a driver of progress. Thus, by the end of 2017, the percentage of women potentially identified for management positions had increased from 18 to 27% and the percentage of women in executive positions had risen from 12 to 14.5%. In the top management, Bureau Veritas has set a target rate of 25% women by 2020.

For Helen Bradley, Executive Vice-President for Human Resources: "This recognition is a tangible result of the global inclusion policy the Group has been implementing since 2016. We are convinced that gender equality in the workplace has a positive effect on the engagement of our people and subsequently our clients as it enables all our employees to fulfil their potential and to fully contribute to the Group's performance".
