Grieg Seafood ASA: IHN virus dectected at one site in GSF BC (Canada)

Grieg Seafood BC (Canada) has detected the presence of the IHN virus at one site at Culloden Point in Jervis Inlet. The positive test was detected as part of the company's routinely fish health surveillance. The site has been quarantined and Canadian fish health authorities been informed. Renewed testing to confirm whether or not the virus is present will be undertaken. The site contains in excess of 300,000 atlantic salmon with an average weight of just above 0.5 kg. The total book value of the fish stock at the site is appr. NOK 9m. There has been no abnormal mortalities at the site. Following a possible confirmatory positive test, further measures will be taken in cooperation with Canadian fish health authorities.

The Culloden Point site is situated at the west coast of mainland BC on the inside of Vancouver Island and has no connection to the area where another salmon farming company in May and July detected IHN at two sites.
